Our Mission
Alley Cats and Angels (AC&A) is is dedicated to improving the lives of the stray, abandoned, and feral cats and the overall reduction of homeless cats in the Triangle. We promote compassionate and humane treatment of cats through:
- Rescuing and adoptiong out friendly homeless cats
- Educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering
- Helping end the pet overpopulation crisis
- Placing high-risk feral/semi-feral cats in safe barn/garden homes
- Providing feral cat education and assistance
- Being an advocate for the forgotten felines
About Us
Alley Cats and Angels is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)3 cat rescue organization located in the Triangle area of North Carolina. We are a no-kill rescue group committed to our cats being secure and happy throughout their lives. We believe that all cats have value and are deserving of safe and loving homes.
All of AC&A's work is accomplished by dedicated volunteers whose common objective is to improve the problems of the existing homeless feline population by simultaneously working towards reducing their future numbers through the combination of feline sterilization and public education
Alley Cats and Angels recognizes the importance of partnering with other rescue organizations because together, we can maximize the difference we can all make in the lives of the Triangle's stray, abandoned, and feral cats.
Alley Cats and Angels is a network of foster homes. We do not have a shelter building. We take a limited number of friendly cats and kittens into the adoption program based on the space available in our foster homes.
Program Overview
Adoption Program
Alley Cats and Angels' adoption program places cats and kittens into indoor-only homes. The cats in our adoption program come from various situations:
- Feral colonies: friendly adoptable and kittens cats found living in feral cat colonies
- Abandoned cats: many of the cats in our adoption program come to us as strays and cats cruelly abandoned by their owners
- High-kill shelters: as space in our foster homes allow, AC&A saves adoptable cats from certain death by pulling them from high kill shelters
All of our cats and kittens are placed in foster homes where they can be socialized and receive one-on-one personal care and socialization and medical care before they are ultimately adopted into loving homes (all cats are fully vetted before adoption). We work to carefully match each cat with the best home for its needs.
We have many cats waiting to fill your hearts with love. Click here to view our adoptable cats.
Barn Cat Program
Alley Cats and Angels' barn/garden cat program seeks secure barn/garden homes for cats that cannot be socialized to an indoor family environment. These cats need a home at a farm, horse stable, or other suitable outdoor environment with shelter where they can live out their lives in relative safety. These cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for intestinal parasites, and ear-cropped. After a short stay in secure confinement, the cats will accept their new home and help keep down the rodent and pest population. Caretaker responsibilities include providing daily food/water and protection from the elements. Many of our current barn cat owners are so pleased with the success that they have referred people needing barn cats to us and/or have requested additional cats for their other barns.
Feral Cat Education and Assistance
Alley Cats and Angels is committed to educating the public on the advantages of TNR (trap, neuter, return). We offer advice and assistance to individuals and other groups with respect to non-lethal feral cat management. We teach the basics of TNR and colony management for feral cats. We also assist local caregivers in several counties by loaning trapping and recovery equipment and providing information on low-cost spay/neuter programs. AC&A also offers advice and assistance to individuals and other groups with respect to non-lethal feral cat management.
Donations
Alley Cats and Angels does not receive any municipal, city, state, or federal funds. All the money to support the rescue comes from individual donations. Donations are used to offset the costs of the medical and daily care of the cats in our programs
Alley Cats and Angels has 501(c)(3) tax exempt status - all donations made to Alley Cats and Angels are tax deductible
