Eureka's adoption fee has been sponsored by Marti W. of Raleigh.
Eureka is a very shy girl, but will come out of her shell eventually and can then be loving. Sometimes we like to say it's like the movie "50 First Dates". Well, sometimes it's like "50 First Dates with Eureka". Eureka appears to have some short-term memory loss from when she was found with tape wrapped around her neck and not breathing. After removing the tape, and CPR, she was rushed to the emergency vet where she stayed for a couple of days. Eureka is a wonderful girl, and a really good girl, but sometimes she forgets she knows you.
My favorite green fuzzy mousie toy keeps me occupied and sometimes I talk while I am chasing it down, to make sure everyone knows I am busy hunting.
Discovering new things is a lot of fun, and it's how I got my name. I'd go exploring if left alone but as long as my special person is around I want to be right next to them or at least in the same room. Is it going to be you?
Eureka and her siblings were born into a feral colony in Raleigh. The mama cat has since been TNR'd.
Fully vaccinated including initial FVRCP+FeLV and booster and rabies vaccination, spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested (negative), treated for fleas and intestinal parasites, and microchipped.

Lacey
Description: DLH Gray with White Est. DOB: February 2009 Gender: Female
***Lacey is a Member of the Loney Hearts Club***
Lacey is a beautiful medium hair Gray / white kitty. I've never seen a kitty with her coloring as her hair starts out gray and the last 1/2 to 1 inch turns a grayish tan color. She has a tuff of white on her front neck and beautiful gold eyes. Lacey loves to talk to you and has a loud purr. Lacey is leaning to play with kitty toys as I don't think she has been exposed to these before. She is very fond of a wand toy that has strings attached to it but becomes frightened after playing for a minute and runs away. She is still intrigued because she will turn around, look at it from her hiding place and inch back out. Hopefully her new parents will be able to spend the time needed to teach her that playing isn't something to be afraid of. Because of Lacey's past, she is very hesitant around others and is easily frightened. Lacey has not had an easy life and will need a loving home to show her not everyone means her harm. She came to us with a diaphragmatic hernia that per the two vets consulted was a result of trauma (being kicked perhaps). Lacey had surgery for the hernia and was a favorite at VHS during her recovery. She is fully recovered and would very much like a patient and loving home of her own. Lacey does best in a house without other cats.
Fully vetted: treated for fleas, ear mites, and intestinal parasites, tested for FeLV/FIV (negative unless otherwise noted), spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations (including FVRCP+FeLV [initial vaccination and booster] and rabies), and microchipped with Home Again microchips with shelter paid registration.

Leesha was rescued from a feral colony where she was constantly threatened; therefore she can be very shy but once she gets used to you and learns to trust you, she is yours forever.
She needs a special person who can give her the patience, love and attention she needs to blossom.
She loves to get your attention by rubbing against your legs. She even likes being picked up and held.
Leesha would probably do best with at least one other cat as a companion because she loves being with other cats.
Fully vaccinated including initial FVRCP+FeLV and booster and rabies vaccination, spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested (negative), treated for fleas and intestinal parasites, and microchipped.

Lola
DMH White and Black DOB: ~6/2007 Female
Lola was trapped at a feral colony and spayed and ear-tipped before we realized she is a real sweetheart.
Lola is a bit on the shy side and not big on being held but loves to be petted and brushed. Lola loves curling up in a cat tree and soaking up the sun. Her favorite activity seems to be playing mother hen and giving all the kittens baths whether they want it or not!
Being used to living outdoors in a feral colony, Lola has bulked up for the winter and become quite a butterball.
Fully vaccinated including initial FVRCP+FeLV and booster and rabies vaccination, spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested (negative), treated for fleas and intestinal parasites, and microchipped.

This sweet cat was found on 2/14/09 hence her name, Valentine. She was rescued from a shopping center parking lot and kept running towards the cars trying to get in. It was pretty evident after an exhaustive search for her owners, that she had simply been abandoned there to fend for herself.
Valentine has a sweet little meow and is quite friendly; she loves to be brushed and petted.
Valentine loves humans but is a little wary around other cats. She is a bit of a princess and would do well if she were the only cat so she could soak up all the attention.
Valentine has one green eye and one blue eye.

Yates
Est. DOB: 2007 Color: American Shorthair Brown Patched Tabby Gender: M ***Member of the Lonely Hearts Club***
Yates has the most striking fur and is, simply put, a gorgeous boy (much much more handsome than his picture). He is a little timid, but he very much wants love and attention; he just needs someone willing to show him a little patience and understanding for him to really blossom. It took him a while to get comfortable enough to run and play, sleep on the bed with his foster mom, and ask for attention. But now he loves to play and especially likes catnip toys and especially balls or toys with bells in them. It is heartwarming to see him open up and run and play since he didnt seem to know what playing was before. And in the morning, he likes to move from the bottom of the bed up the bed and ask for some head and chin scratches.
Yates talks a lot when hes at adoption events but hes not as talkative at home. We think hes just asking everyone that goes by if they are his forever home. Do you have room in your heart and home for this handsome fellow?
Yate and the other American Shorthairs from a living situation which turned bad after their owner spent many months in the hospital with cancer. He came from a house with almost 70 other cats.
Full vetted: dewormed, treated with flea preventative, spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines (including FVRCP+FeLV and rabies), negative for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped with Home Again microchips with shelter paid registration.
